Webcomics Weekly: Webcomics About Dating

Webcomics about being single and ready to mingle

We've taken a look at webcomics about relationships, but now it's time to take a look at the stage that comes before settling in for the long haul (or the semi-long haul in some people's cases). The dating phase.

You know, it's that time when you're swiping on Tinder, going on dates, and not really decided on whether you like this person or that person. You're kind of confused all around, you know what you want, but then you don't know what you want.

So today we're talking about dating, with webcomics.

First, let's just talk about the options. There are so many options. There are tons of dating apps out there and there are so many attractive people out there. This person looks great, but this person looks better.

Answer is obvious. Start flailing your arms and scream.

And even when you do manage to choose, a lot of people get afraid to make a move, because there's always the risk that there's something beneath that person's appearance that is kind of, well you know. Shitty.

Man that is some next level shitty.

However, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't cast your net out there.

Somewhere in the distance, somewhere out there is someone you definitely want to be with, who also reciprocates that. And it's going to be totally beautiful when that happens.

Would like to say though. Perhaps it's worth it to get off Tinder, or Bumble. Go out into the world and mingle with others. Don't be afraid to give a personal touch to your wooing. You just never know how it's going to turn out. So why not be bold and send out a solid message of love out there?

Webcomics Weekly: Webcomics About Adulting

Webcomics About Being An Adult

This week's webcomics are about that fabled thing everyone's destined for, but not always desired. Adulting.

Adulting often means doing things that we're not completely comfortable with (yet), or things that we're just not used to. We could try to put away doing them for a long time, but eventually, it catches up with you. Things like doing taxes, paying attention to what you eat, as well as keeping up with current events.

cmh_webcomic.jpg

MORE WEBCOMICS FROM Jennifer Herd

It's also about shedding things that you're familiar with. You're now an adult, and that means you're supposed to be able to take care of yourself without the assistance of your parents. You have to clean up your own mess, and watch what you eat. You're now the principal person responsible for keeping yourself alive. So you have to try to get rid of things that you were able to do because someone else was taking care of you. Often times those are bad habits from when you were younger.

Though the danger there is that you could simply be trading one bad habit for another. I mean, why not grab fast food at midnight? You're an adult, you're free, you can do whatever you want as your heart desires. Binge watching shows while you have work the next morning? Sure! Buying stuff that you don't really need and maxing your credit card out constantly? Why not!

MORE WEBCOMICS FROM RYAN HARBY

It is very tiring though. Being an adult is a huge amount of work in itself. Cooking your meals instead of ordering takeout all the time. Managing your finances in a way where you're thinking about the future instead of blowing your money each time you get a paycheck. Cleaning your place so it doesn't look like a war zone all the time. So don't feel like you have to be the perfect adult all at once. Baby steps at a time, even if it means you're having cereal every meal.

MORE WEBCOMICS FROM R ADAM

But don't forget to 'kid' it out once in a while. Because just because you become an adult, it doesn't mean you have to give up all the fun you used to have from when you were younger.

Monday Motivation Webcomics: Productivity at Home

Webcomic by Ophelia Chiu

Do you have a feeling that you just can't seem to escape being a potato when you're at home despite the fact that you have a million things you need to do? Keep on reaching for Netflix even when you know you've got an assignment that is due in 24 hours? Constantly turning on the PS4 as your unfinished project is begging you for some attention?

Well, the problem might be where you are. You see, it's very hard to control yourself from all these potential distractions. And while you're at home, you have a million different things you can possibly do OTHER than working. What's more, the truth is that when you have something that you absolutely need to get done, everything else seems a lot more interesting. Know the old quip about how people tend to find cleaning their house suddenly fun while they have something due the next day? Exactly.

The hack here really is to get the hell out of your place, and go elsewhere where your productivity is on fire. Whether it's the cafe, the library, or the park bench.

So cheers to getting things done. Hopefully you'll find that special place where you will literally be in flames over the desk.

Happy Monday!

Webcomics Weekly: Webcomics About Starting Something

Webcomics About Starting New Things

Today, we have webcomics about starting things. It could be anything, like a new project, a bad habit you want to rid of, or a good habit you want to start.

The thing is, it's very difficult to start something new. First of all, the behaviour of starting means that you're not used to that thing, and we all know how we are around things we aren't used to. We prefer to avoid it, put it away from our sights, or tiptoe around it.

And a lot of people are actually very good at putting things off, which definitely adds to the hardship of starting a new thing, as Dani's webcomic shows.

Or it may be that you're excited to get started on the new thing, but then it becomes very hard to actually sustain it. This is the case with many new year's resolutions where you promise yourself that you'll do something. Maybe sleeping earlier, going to the gym more often, or reading an hour a day.

You get all pumped, ready to improve your life and take control of things. It's January 1st and you're ready to grab the year by its horns.

By the beginning of February, most people will find that their resolutions have all but been broken.

And it's also often the case with diets, as Cassandra's comic will show.

Plus, what about people around you doubting you? There will always be people looking down upon the idea of those who dare to venture out to the unknown.

"You don't have what it takes."

"You're not good enough."

"You won't last very long."

"You'll fail."

There's never a shortage of discouraging remarks from people who deem that they're the 'voice of reason'.

Monica certainly knows how that feels.

In the end though, the start is where it all begins. Where change happens and you become serious about doing something for your life that will lead to a new place, and often those new places make us better. Improve us in ways we could've never imagined when we set out.

Webcomics Weekly: Webcomics About Cooking

Webcomics about Cooking

Today we have webcomics about cooking, that pinnacle of 'adulting'. With cooking you can escape the endless cycle of takeouts, eating out, ordering, and microwave dinners.

But make no mistake. Cooking is a commitment. Once you start cooking you're making a choice. There is a lot of work involved with incorporating cooking into your life. You have to do groceries. You have to prep your ingredients. You have to have the pots and pans and whatever else that you may need. Then you actually have to follow the recipe. You may mess up and end up with a batch of something terrible. There can be all sorts of headaches with cooking.

It's quite a bit of work. Which is why it's sometimes one of the first things to go out the window when things get busy in our lives.

And certainly, cooking is not for everyone. For some people, even the easiest sounding recipes just become a quagmire for them. Simple instructions turn into a maze that they get stuck in.

But in the end. It's sometimes worth it to cook. You may get to have more healthy options for your daily diet. The sheer fact that you get to control what you eat adds so much to being able to watch what you eat and follow a more healthier lifestyle.

And moreover, you'll save a lot of money. Everyone's down with that right? Takeouts and ordering food, all of that is so much money.

So maybe try to bring cooking into your life, one small recipe at a time. It may look like a complicated puzzle at first, but just take it slow and simple. You may surprise yourself at how good your food can get.

Monday Motivation Webcomics: Push Your Ideas

Webcomic by R. Adam

There are many times when it just feels like your ideas aren't going anywhere. No one pays attention to them.

Sometimes the wind is against you, and your ideas struggle to fly ahead. But it's okay, because sooner or later, everyone is going to get some tail wind, and you better be ready to fly your ideas high when that happens.

So press on everyone. Happy Monday.

Webcomics Weekly: Webcomics About Cats

Webcomics about our feline friends

For today's weekly webcomic, we have cats. As you may know, we recently crowdfunded a comic anthology about cats on Furr, on Kickstarter. The digital version of the book has been finished, and we're getting to release the print edition very soon.

So in celebration of that, here are some webcomics that has to do with our friendly (or at times not so friendly) feline companions. They may not show it, but they do love us (we hope. Otherwise it's safe to say that they probably want to kill us all the time). They're just different.

Like how they see the world is very different from how we often look at things.

webcomics_cat.png

And as this next webcomic from Jennifer Herd will demonstrate, this often translates to the fact that cats are not exactly looking for your affection all the time. Sure, they will come and cuddle you as they see convenient, but get ready if you ever displease them. They will f*ck you up if you don't comply to their orders. One way or another.

webcomic_clearlymissherd.jpg

But no matter what, we love them endlessly. It's like they light the masochist in us. Our love for our cats can be really intense. So much so that we sometimes go a little overboard.

webcomic_caityhall.jpg

As today's webcomics show, we have a very special relationship with our cats. We love them, and they hate us. Then they love us back sometimes. Sort of like a real relationship with a human being you know? A really finicky human being with sharp claws who makes us pick up their poop.

So in closing, here's a webcomic that will give you a sneak peek into our upcoming first comic anthology about cats, Furr. This webcomic is called 'The Wizard Howl Jenkins' by Kristina Luu

Enjoy!

Webcomics Weekly: Webcomics About Relationships

Webcomics About finding the right person

Today's webcomics is about romance. More specifically, it's webcomics about a more stable form of romance. It's about finding the right person. Many of us wish for the love story of our lives to deliver us a happy romantic ending. One that would end our search for our other half. That person who would make us say, "this is definitely love."

Well, the unfortunate truth is that meeting the right person can be tough. There's so much choice out there, how do you even begin to pick out who's the one for you? And what if no one around you is really who you want? You can't just jump into a relationship with anyone. To find the person that matches with you who is also nearby you, can be quite difficult, as Filis' webcomic shows.

And not only that, after meeting the right person you have to make sure that the relationship is a good one. It would totally be awesome if relationships were just always perfect, full of affection, appreciation, and love, like this Rad Boyfriend from Katie So's Bad Boyfriend.

Webcomic by Katie So

But all too often, that isn't that case. We may become disappointed with the other person. It can sometimes be that how much we want the other person to invest in the relationship may not be as much as the same for the other. For instance, with how much the other person wants to spend time with us, as portrayed by Britt Scott in her Tiny Tales

But not all endings are bad. In fact. They can actually be a good thing. Maybe it's a beginning to a new life. Maybe it's going to be total freedom, like Cassandra's webcomic below.

The hunt for love is always tough. But don't worry. There's always someone right for you out there (as cliched as that sounds). In the mean time, sit back, relax, and enjoy all that life has to offer you when you're single!

Webcomics Weekly: Workout Comics

This week's webcomic selection: Comics About working out

Working out, losing weight, getting muscles. Whatever it is about, exercise is not an easy thing. You need quite a bit of determination if you really to get those muscles growing on you. You tell yourself new year, new you, but it's damn hard to get up and put the work in. Let alone get to the gym.

And you have to watch for whether you're putting your proper efforts in there. Otherwise you're really just wasting time. You also have to make sure that you watch your eating. Especially if you're thinking to 'reward' yourself after a good workout. Just like Caity is doing here:

p11.jpg

And of course, even with determination and the will to change your body for the better, it can be tough. You go to the gym, and you look at all the other people with these bulging muscles. Flat abs. Majestic chests. It's daunting, and you look at yourself and think about how and when you'll get there as well. Where you are, and where they are now just feel like an impossible distance away.

Filis definitely knows how that feels:

TTWF - gym.jpg

But you just gotta keep working out. People eventually get there. A month passes, then two. Then 6, and suddenly you've been at it for 3 years feeling amazing.

Having a better you is a long term project, and there is no shortcut to it other than just making sure that you show up and work it. Put the time in, as well as the effort. Sweat the good sweat, and feel that burn coursing through your muscles. We're given one body and one body only, we might as well make the best of it right?

Otherwise, you'll be running out of breath while trying to grind out breadcrumbs, like Carolina's boyfriend

Webcomics Weekly: Being Hungry

This week's webcomic selection:

Hey there webcomic people. This week we're starting something different. Every week we're going to pick out panels from our webcomic selection and showcase them on this new blog series. Some weeks it's gonna be about a specific subjects, other weeks (depending on how motivated I feel), it might just be stuff I'm into that week.

This week, it's webcomics about being hungry.

No Middle Ground, a Webcomic by Carolina Valtuille

See, being hungry spreads. If someone's eating, even if you weren't hungry before, you suddenly want that food, and it doesn't matter what it is. If someone else is having it, you automatically want it. It's like a formula.

Caity Comics, a Webcomicby Caity Hall

You're definitely hungry when there are free samples at the grocery store. I personally have done this thing where I would use by glasses and my hat to pretend I was four different people at the local Costco. Either I was that good, or the serving lady's eyes were that bad. Either way, I had my filling of frozen general tao's chicken that day.

Bad Boyfriend, a Webcomicby Katie So

And for sure, you're hungry when you're high as a kite. A lot of us have had this happen to us before.

So that's this week's webcomics. I'm definitely hungry now. I've been saving this pack of ramen in the pantry so that basically settles my weekend plans. Go eat something nice y'all.

We'll be back next week with some more webcomics. In the mean time, do look around!
